Privacy Policy

Overview

RegretCheck is a free web app that helps you pause before making a purchase. We designed it to be private by default: your purchase checks stay on your device. We do not run accounts or advertising trackers. Anonymous page-view analytics are collected through Vercel Web Analytics when the app is hosted on Vercel.

Information we collect

RegretCheck does not collect, store, or transmit your personal information to our servers because we do not operate backend servers for the app.

When you use RegretCheck, you may enter details such as item name, price, category, mood, and affordability answers. All scoring and roasts are generated entirely in your browser.

Data stored on your device

RegretCheck saves data locally in your browser so you can view history and recent results:

  • localStorage — up to 100 saved purchase checks (item details, scores, roasts, and status such as bought / avoided / thinking)
  • sessionStorage — your most recent result for the current browser session

You can delete individual entries or clear all history from within the app. Clearing your browser data will also remove saved checks.

Sharing

If you share a roast, RegretCheck opens your messaging apps (such as Messages or WhatsApp) with text you choose, copies text to your clipboard, or saves a roast image on your device. Image sharing may use your device's native share sheet when supported. Sharing is entirely your choice — nothing is shared automatically, and we do not receive what you send.

Third-party services

RegretCheck loads the DM Sans font from Google Fonts when you open the site. Your browser may connect to Google's servers to fetch those font files. We do not send your purchase data to Google.

When hosted on Vercel, RegretCheck uses Vercel Web Analytics to collect privacy-friendly, aggregated page views (such as which pages were visited). This does not include your purchase details, scores, or roasts. See Vercel's analytics privacy policy.

If you access RegretCheck through a web host, that host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) as part of normal website operation. RegretCheck itself does not access or use those logs.

Children

RegretCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Entertainment disclaimer

RegretCheck is for entertainment and self-reflection only. It is not financial, legal, or professional advice.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
